Childbirth in Ireland
Women’s choices about how and where to give birth are
very restricted. Despite evidence that women want a choice about who
cares for them, and that many want to give birth safely close to or even
in their own home, closure of small maternity units continues and
options for care are a lottery depending on where women live.
Choices in Childbirth brings together midwives and
women who are working hard to bring about a transformation in Irish
